City Manager Jean-Ann McGrane fired

At the January 12, 2009 city council meeting, the council voted to terminate City Manager Jean-Ann McGrane.  The vote was 3-2, with Councilwomen Bell, Bello, and Dickinson in the majority.  Mayor Valentine and Councilwoman Angelo voted no.

McGrane read resolution no. 8 – 2009 herself: “A resolution terminating the employment contract of Jean-Ann McGrane as City Manager effective immediately.”  The council voted, and McGrane quickly exited.

At the opening of the meeting numerous residents spoke either for or against Ms. McGrane, with comments lasting almost two hours.  There were many criticisms fueled by the findings of the HUD audit regarding misspent CDBG funds.
