The Newburgh Advocate seeks to encourage greater public participation in the democratic process. When individuals are discouraged or intimidated from participating and expressing their constitutionally protected freedom of speech, we must, as citizens of the United States of America, let alone as human beings of conscience, act swiftly and without hesitation.

To quote Edmund Burke:

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.

Newburgh: a city on the scenic West Bank of the Hudson River, located in the state of New York, in the United States of America.

The United States of America has a wonderful Constitution, that includes the First Amendment, to quote:

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of grievances.

Unfortunately there has been an attempt to stifle the precious freedom of speech in this City. A complaint has been filed by a Douglas Dollinger, Esq., and 96 Broadway LLC, against Michael Gabor, a City of Newburgh resident, and John and Jane Does numbered 1 through 50 as co-defendants.
